Alliance for Full Acceptance

When organizers of The Big, Gay Wedding asked us for some PR support, we jumped at the chance. After all, it’s a great story: dozens of Charleston businesses coming together to welcome LGBT weddings in our city. So we set to work helping make something happen in social and earned media.

Launched in the height of summer, with six weeks to make magic happen, we found ourselves working with a very enthusiastic and responsive client. The results speak for themselves: more than 15 million online impressions, thanks to numerous placements. Key were Post and Courier, Associated Press and CRBJ believing, as we did, that this was a story worth telling.

Here’s what board member, Susie Preuter, had to say about working with our team: “Touchpoint took our local “little engine that could” advocacy/fundraising project and helped us reach a national audience with impression numbers that were off the chart. The staff was just darn tenacious in pitching and posting, continually coming up with fresh ideas and paths to reach our target audience. And that expertise and energy was second only to their enthusiasm, optimism, and comedy in managing the many constituents and moving parts of our project. Messaging is critical to our success as an advocacy group and Touchpoint was spot on in representing our organization.”

Record-Smashing Sweet Tea Event

IMG_3016When the Town of Summerville decided to make a big deal of their designation as the Birth of Sweet Tea, they went for “really big.” As in a 14,000 gallon container full of locally sourced and sweetened iced tea. And they asked Touchpoint to help them promote their effort to snag the Guinness Book of World Records ranking from the clutches of Chic Fil A. We were happy to oblige, and helped create a local, regional and national PR push for the event. The results were strong, with a Guinness Book adjudicator pronouncing them the victors before a crowd three times the size organizers had envisioned. To learn more about this great town and its legacy, check out this CBS Sunday Morning piece that ran shortly thereafter.

Red Harbor Rum

PCD-RHR_bottle_shot_retouchedCreated by the youngest distillers in the nation, Red Harbor Rum hit Charleston shelves mid-2015. The Colonial-style rum clearly tapped into a yearning for authentic, local products, as it became the most successful launch in a decade, according to its distributors. Touchpoint helped the young entrepreneurs get a running head start with a combination of earned media, social media and event support. It all started with a private launch party aside the “Red Harbor” in a private residence on East Battery. Soon, coverage in the Post and Courier, Charleston magazine and from bloggers like the Cocktail Bandits helped fuel interest. And more is on the way!

Sea Island Habitat for Humanity

Touchpoint was hired by Sea Island Habitat for Humanity to assist with social media, earned media and paid media. We also created and executed the ReStore’s inaugural Shopped DIY design competition, which yielded increased awareness and local placements in Charleston Regional Business Journal, Charleston Grit, Lowcountry Live and more.

Summers Corner

SC_stacked_normalTouchpoint is helping to grow this “Community in a Garden” by providing media buying, event execution and earned media support. Launching the Summerville, SC community found us doing very targeted “windshield tours” for key local media. We followed that up with a connection between Summers Corner and the BB&T Wine and Food Festival, a sponsorship that helped drive interest. Coming months will find us telling this terrific story through a blend of activities.
